Cookies Policy

The short version. This site sets no tracking cookies at all unless you press Accept on the banner. If you press Decline, or simply ignore the banner, nothing is loaded and no tracking cookie is created.
The site does keep three small notes in your own browser — your cookie answer, when you gave it, and the timestamps of recent form submissions so we can block spam. Those never leave your device and are never sent to us.
1. What this covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on streamlineref.ca. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information more broadly and explains your rights under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.
2. Cookies, and the thing most sites call cookies
Worth being precise, because it changes what you can do about it.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on each subsequent request. Local storage is a similar space in your browser, except it is never automatically transmitted anywhere — a page can read it, but it is not attached to network requests.
The distinction matters here because everything this site stores by default uses local storage, not cookies. Genuine cookies appear only if you consent to analytics, and they are set by Google rather than by us.
3. What is stored before you consent to anything
These three items are created by the site itself. All three are local storage, stay on your device, and are never sent to us or to anyone else. None of them identifies you.

that dozens of enquiries are arriving from one browser in a few minutes and
blocks the spam. It holds times only — never the contents of your enquiry.

These are strictly necessary: two of them exist purely to respect your privacy choice, and the third protects the business from automated abuse. There is no way to switch them off and still have the site remember that you said no.
4. What is stored only if you press Accept
If, and only if, you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets its own cookies:

These are set by Google, on Google's own domain, and we cannot read them directly. We see only the aggregated reports.
We do not use advertising cookies. There is no Google Ads tag, no Meta or Facebook pixel, no LinkedIn tag, no remarketing and no cross-site tracking on this website. When analytics does load, we explicitly set Google's advertising storage, advertising personalisation and ad-user-data permissions to denied.
5. What we never store
- Nothing you type into a form is stored in a cookie or in local storage. Form contents go straight to us when you press Send, and nowhere else.
- The heat pump rebate estimator, which asks about household income and property value, stores nothing at all. It calculates entirely inside your browser and never transmits or saves your answers. See section 3.4 of the Privacy Policy.
- No payment information — this site does not take payments.
6. Changing your mind
You can withdraw consent at any time. Any of these work:
- Clear this site's data in your browser settings. That deletes both the analytics cookies and the three local storage items, and the banner will ask you again on your next visit.
- Block cookies for this site in your browser settings.
- Use private or incognito browsing, which discards everything when you close the window.
- Install Google's opt-out add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which blocks Google Analytics across every site you visit.
- Ask us. Email info@streamlineref.ca and we will explain exactly how to do it on your browser.
Declining or clearing cookies does not break anything. Every page, every form and the rebate estimator work identically either way. Nothing on this site is withheld from visitors who decline.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers can send a "do not track" or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no agreed standard for how sites must respond to these, and many sites ignore them. Because our analytics is off unless you actively press Accept, a visitor who never accepts is already not tracked, whatever signal their browser sends.
8. Server records
Separately from cookies, our host — Google Firebase Hosting — keeps standard web-server logs of requests, including IP address, browser type and the page requested. This happens for every website on the internet and is not something consent can switch off, because it is how the server delivers the page to you at all. These logs are used for security and diagnosing faults, not for tracking or marketing.
9. Changes
If we add or remove anything that stores data in your browser, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Adding an advertising or tracking cookie would be a significant change, and we would ask for your consent again rather than quietly editing this page.
